work accident! severe head trauma !

Hi my husband had a fall in December 08, He suffered a fractured skull, cheek and nose, contusions to the brain also a collapsed lung.
The hospital sedated him because he was vomiting and confused after nearly an hour being rescued from the 10ft deep concrete newly built basement in which he fell, due to lack of safety rails.
The Hospital then couldn't wake him for 3days, he was transfered late that night to another hospital where he was brought round on the 4th morning. After 9 days completely confused he was eventually released to come home on xmas eve.
He was still confused but home.
Then new years eve I took him back to the local hospital because he couldn't control his bladder and started shaking with a temperature. The hospital said he'd gone down with an infection where he'd been on a catheta.
Just to make things worse, that night he started hiccuping. He couldn't stop the consultant told me this can happen with severe head trauma. We saw the doctor the day after new years day, he prescribed a really strong sedative to try to relax the muscles. but didn't work. The hiccups went on continuously for 8-10 days until finally stopping.
this was just the start of a long recovery!
He lost about a month of his life as he still doesn't recall nothing about the accident or even that christmas with the kids.
can anyone advise on what sort of compensation he could be due?

Get to a personal injury solicitor as quickly as possible.

Unless it can be shown that your husband is incapable of looking after his own affairs, you have until December this year to issue proceedings as the 3 year statute of limitation will apply, but there is a lot of work that needs to be done to investigate and estblish liability.

If liability can be established, the an injury such as your husband has sustained will be quite substantial, but that is the key, establishing the facts and liability, so you need to get to see someone, an expert in this area of law quickly and as soon as possible

I agree with Tony. Many solicitors offer a free initial consultation so take advantage of this. Bring along all evidence you have including doctor's reports, costs incurred and anything else relevant. Did the accident happen in the workplace? Who are you looking to seek compensation from?
