If you have any accident at work and feel that it was your employer's fault that the incident occurred, you may have grounds to make a claim. Your employer should have insurance that covers them to make a successful claim so it is their responsibility to pay compensation if your accident was their fault.

You must ensure that the accident is recorded and that you keep any details of costs incurred whether they be medical, travel or other plus any witness statements and other evidence you have that the accident was at the fault of your employer. You must make the claim within three years of the accident. You can find more useful information on the DirectGov website.

I hope all that helps.

Employers have been required to have compulsory employee liability insurance since 1972 to cover accidents at work where the employer is liable for the cause of injury or accidents.

The claims procedure works in exactly the same way as a car crash claim.  Liability has to be established, but thhe claim although against the employer is covered by their insurance.

Hope this helps
