Important Back Injury - What compensation?

Hi there,

I am currently suffering a double slipped disc in my back due to illegal work conditions and physical abuse.
I was forced doing a warehouse job despite I was not qualified and didn't receive any lifting training.
I am a seller and the place where I used to work has obvious health and safety issues (I am in possession of evidence).

I was trying to start a new career here in England but I am now unable to pursue these goals due to my back injury as the job involves carrying.
My situation become critical as all my degrees obtained previously in France are sports related (Physical Education Teacher, swimming pool instructor, lifeguard...etc).
I feel like my job security is strongly prejudiced as I am constantly suffering from chronic pain and can't practice sports anymore. I am also strongly limited in my day-to-day activities.
This is obviously affecting my mental as well.

It has been one year since I had this injury and I still didn't recover. Different specialists wrote in their reports that it is hard to tell if I will recover and that I might need a surgery.
I started an injury claim about 8 month ago and my employer recognized liability.

My questions are the following:
What type of compensation should I claim?
Can we talk about life compensation in my situation?
How do I go about calculating figures?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Matheiu,

I am sorry to hear about your accident and abuse suffered and their effects on your future plans. the good news is that you have begun a personal injury claim case against them and for information relating to that you should speak to the company dealing with your personal injury claim.
In terms of your employment you do not mention if you are still employed by the same company or how long ago you left. If you haven't already left then tI would suggest raising the bullyign and abuse issue with your HR department or if you left work less than 3 months ago I would suggest seeking advice from your local Citizens Advice BUreau/Employment Law solicitor to pursue a dismissal claim.

I think you have a very good claim. I would suggest you check out 2 or 3 different solicitors to see which will be the best to represent you and your claim.
