Andy - it depends how the accident happened. To claim compensation you have to prove negligence on the part of your employer.

If you can prove negligence I would need to see the scarring to advise you on the right level of compensation.

Hi Andy

Sorry to hear about your accident and what seems to be nasty injuries.

As Martyn has said above the circumstances of your accident will determin whether you are entitled to compensation for your injuries.  If you are able to show that the accident was as a result of the negligence of your employers then you ought to be able to claim.

In terms of compensation for your injuries this depends on the injuries and suffering you have had to deal with.  Compensation  for your injuries is known as General Damages.  You can also claim Special Damages which are out of pocket expenses for example loss of earnings.  Therefore the level of compensaiton does really depend on many factors.

If your injuries have left marks and scars on your legs then make sure you take lots of pictures, you need to be able to show how the scarring is developing.  Normally shortly after the injury it is very prominent before becoming less obvious as time goes on.  The issue with scarring is that without photographs solicitors and insurers find it hard to envisage the level of cosmetic deficit (which is what the value of the claim is based on in these circumstances) for example a scar on a young girls legs would be worth more than on an older mans legs which are relatively hairy for instance.  The reasons are obvious the girl would be more concerned with the scar than the man would be.

I hope this gives you a little more insight.
