falling boxes

Hi , quick question. My brother and his wife and young son ( aged 4) were in a local shops cafe enjoying some coffee and hot chocolate for his son. Right next to where they were sitting was a pile of cardboard boxes stacked high above the banister where they sat.   As they sat enjoying their drinks the boxes suddenly toppled over due to a staff member moving some of the boxes. The contents of the boxes landed on their table spilling the contents of their hot drinks all over them.
The shop had my brother fill in an accident report but now a week later my brother has heard no more, he is very angry at this and would like some advise , Thanks Pandora

Pandora - if your brother or one of his family members was injured then he is entitled to claim compensation.

He is unlikely to hear anything from the cafe as the form he completed will just be for their records.

He should contact a solicitor about making a claim.

Hi Pandora

I hope your family members have recovered somewhat from their ordeal!

As Martyn has said the shop would rarely contact you further after the incident there are a number of reasons the main one being is that they would not wish to prompt you into a claim and if they did contact you more than likely you would say "So what are you going to do about it?"

The matter has been recorded in their accident book and if they felt the injuries were significant enough they may have advised their insurers regarding the same so as to have made them aware of the accident in case you do proceed to make a claim.  This is generally a clause in their insurance contracts.

If your family members do wish to claim and they have been to the Dr's or Hospital as a result of the accident then make sure you use specialist personal injury solicitors.

I hope this helps.
