industrial deafness -about twenty year ago

Hi room ,looking for advice on my situation please.
About 20year ago using my unions solicitors I won an industrial deafness claim against my previous employer. As I was leaving the clinic where I had my hearing test I asked the consultant who had just carried out the test if I had any chance o winning my clain ? he said yes and als handed me a form to fill in to see if I could also claim a pension form the state.
Been a bit silly in those days I thought Pension that most be for older eople so i put the claim form in the bin, a few weeks later I recived a offer for compensation from my previous employer ,acceppted it signed a full and final form and got on with life.
Browsing online a fewweeks ago I discoverd that I could have infact maybe qualified for this pension even  in my early 30s so I started to try and get hold off my bits o paper to say that I had been proven to have industrial deafness  but no luck .
I have no documentation of the event , my union and the solicitors they supplied say they have no records that go back thatfar .I conntacted the clinicwhere I had the test and they say they nly keep records for 7 year and that my GP should have the records or results of my hearing tests - they do not have them .
I today conntacted my old employer to ask if they had any record of my claim but the person I needed to speak too was "not in today "
In short I won a claim for industrial deafness in te eary 90s but at the moment have no proo that I did .
HELP PLEASE

Hi

Sorry to hear about your situation.  My only advice would be to request a copy of your GP and hospital records yourself.  This will cost you Â?100 for the two but you can then consider the records yourself.  These records would have also been considered by your medico legal consultant back in the days of dealing with your claim.  The solicitors would have more than likely only have taken your claim on if your own GP or Hospital linked your problems back then to work.  Most people seek the advice of their own GP or Hospital prior to making a cliam.  I am sure you would have too?

If not there are other ways to show your deafness is due to work and this will easily be dealt with by further medical examinations and your history of the matter. When considering the forms for the pension and other things take advice from the Citizens Advice Beraux and your GP they will all be valuable assistance to you.

I hope this helps.

If you can recall the name of the solicitors you used you should contact them and ask that they check through their archives.

It seems on the face of it that you may qualify for some form of pension, but it depends on the specifics of your case.
