Settlement figure.

I was involved in a car accident in June where a flat bed AA recovery truck crashed in to me while stationairy in traffic, the car was written off and i had bad whiplash and back pain.

I contacted a solicitor and had a medical exam conducted, i have just received the report which states that i have suffered a ligamentous soft tissue injury to my neck which is expected to recover 6-9 months after the medical exam, also pain in my lower back from the collision that is expected to recover in 12 months from the examination.

My solicitor has suggested i make an offer for Â?3000 to settle the matter but this seems to be a low ammount compared to the pain i have been caused.

I would like to avoid court but feel this is too small ammount.

Is there anyone who can offer some advice as to wether the ammount suggested is fair?

Can i suggest my own ammount?

Any advice would be great thank you!

To be frank for an injury which can last 9-12 months the figure of Â?3000 does not relate with the damage. Ask your solicitor they should demand for more if you believe this is not the right amount.

Ideally your solicitor should have discussed with you just after the medical and should have suggested a larger amount from third party.

If your solicitors are not helping you now you may have an option of using another solicitor but it will cost you as you must pay legal cost to your solicitor for leaving them which can be in thousands it self.

Best way is to talk to your solicitor again

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your accident.
I am surprised by the amount you are being offerd. The same thing happened to me last year and my inurys are very much the same as yours. whiplash and soft tissue muscle damage to lower back. On constant pain relief. medical report says I should be back to pre-accident state by August, which will be 9 months since accident.
my solicitors say I should put in for Â?1950 to Â?2250. They never even discussed an amount with me.
If you think your claim will be low then mine is disgusting.
I have told mine I will settle if he re-evaluates the amount to a more acceptable rate but I have no idea what that should be.

Hope you have better luck than I am.

Good luck and let me know how you get on.

Have a nice day.

Where on earth do they get their figures from I wonder?
