loss of earnings due to no car

We were hit by another driver and it has now become apparent our old car is going to be written off. This will destroy our life. The car is not worth much (under Â?1000). We have a small child who goes to nursary for the three days a week that I work. My husband and I both work 30 miles away from the nursary and commute together in the car. Without a car we would have to rely on the trains which we estimate to be about Â?80 a week for us both to travel, plus we'd have to reduce our working hours in order to drop her off and pick her up in time, and if anything happened we would not be able to get back to her. We dont have any family near us who can help. So it basically means that without our little car I'm going to have to give up my job as we cannot afford for us both to commute via public transport both financially and for childcare issues. The knock on effect of that is without my wage we cannot afford to shop or pay the bills. This minor prang is literally life ruining. I'm suffering panic attacks due to the stress of the impending financial problems (just before Christmas too!). I know when we get the money we will get another car, but we cant afford this even for the few months it might take to sort out. Does anyone know if we can claim for my stress (even though I wasnt in the car) and for the future loss of earnings and life ruining this accident has caused? Thanks for any help.

I am sorry to hear you were hit by an uninsured driver.  You are still entitled to make a claim for your losses (subject to an excess) from the Motor Insurers Bureax.  Google them.

If you would like a solicitor to help you with your claim please do contact us and if you wish we can advise you further.
