Advice about a friends accident

A friend had an accident at work.

Without going into too much detail they were moving heavy objects, he advised to the person in charge that the next thing was too heavy, but the person in charge dismissed this and told them to carry on, it resulted on a large weight falling on my friend and hospitalising him for a good while. A couple of broken bones and deep lacerations.

I contacted the HSE to see if it had been reported, they did a search and came back saying it hadn't and the company were now liable for prosecution for not reporting it, the company also removed all evidence straight away.

Is this the sort of injury that's worth pursuing for compensation? Is there anything else which should be done?
