car acciden after alcohol

I was driving a car after alcohol. It was an emergancy because my wife needed some medicine from the farmacy. I was driving slowly but some careless driver bumped into my car. I went to the hospital because I had problems with my back. Now I don't know if I have a right to claim for any compensation if I was pretty drunk that time. Please, let me know what to do.

Thanks for a quick response. Refering to the accident I felt a bit dizzy so I pulled out the car on the side on the road. I switched the lights and I called my friend (I thought  that maybe he could help me to get back home cause it was rainy and I didn't feel well). Suddenly the other car smashed into my vehicle and run away. There is no witness who can confirm that I was not driving at the moment and the other driver was never caught because I couldn't recognise the car. Do I have any chance?

Thank you for response! Yes, the info is useful as I hadn't know that the Motor insurance Bureau exists.

Richard, what you have to beware of the MIB is that many solicitors that deal with your claim via the MIB may deduct a percentage of your compensation to accomodate their costs, the MIB are notoriusly famous for offering low amounts for compensation and prolonged periods of claiming. they will also deduct the first 300 as a property damage excess.

My advice would be to pursue an injury claim via the MIB yourself www.mib.org.uk there is an online claim form. and the process is relatively easy.

Any more information feel free to reply
