Fractured elbow by slipping on water in sports building

About two months ago I slipped on a wet floor in the area around pitches at an indoor sports tournament (I wasn't taking part in the sport - I was helping organise it).  As part of the tournament we gave out over 100 free bottles of water to the people taking part.  I have no idea if the area I slipped on was a result of the water we gave out or simply was spilt by one of the 160 competitors with their own drinks.  Anyway, no wet floor signs were in place and I fractured my elbow and haven't been able to pick up, play with or bath my 10 month baby girl for two months sad

It only occurred to me in the last couple of days that whilst we did give out free bottles of water, surely the onus is on the facility to keep their premises safe when a large tournament is going on?  The sports facility did give us half price pitch hire (arranged long before the tournament took place) and to now put in a claim doesn't sit easily with me, but really, that's a seperate issue I think.  Any ideas or comments from anyone??  Would I be within my rights to claim?

Mr Black,

I would imagine the sports hall have insurance and teh onus is surely on them to ensure the area is safe however if it is a privately arranged tournament the onus may well be on the organisers i.e you, did you report the claim to the sports hall at the time?

No, didn't report it at the  time...........my forearm was just very sore at that stage, didn't think I'd broken anything.  Wasn't until I went t ohospital 2 hours later that I was told it was fractured.
