hit-and-run

Last week experienced nasty car accident. It was late, was getting out of the Air Club (Birmingham), Well let's not deny it - i had one over the eight and was really unable to see that vehicle coming out of nowhere. One second later, found myself on a bonnet of the guy's audi. Shocked to the core (and drunk like hell) fell off to the ground. I broke an arm and a jaw. As the matter of the fact, my thinking processes didn't exactly have much in common with sober thinking, so the perpetrator turned tail in a flash. Luckily, one chap out there, turned to be really kind and coped to take perpetrator's numberplate.
My injuries didn't quite serious (in my GP's opinion).
Does anybody know if i can claim for the compensation?
