medical error

Last month I must underwent an operation. Earlier I to suffered from a weak liver. I consulted a doctor a few months. The doctor provided a diagnosis: cirrhosis liver and gave me a refferal on the operation. It later emerged that operation wasn't imperative.  In connection with the operation some complications have arisen. Am I entitled to claim compensation from a that doctor?
