car accident with pedestrian

In december last year I was involved in a car accident. I hit the pedestrian and she was in hospital for surgery for broken leg and knees. My insurance covers up a part coempensation for her damage. My insurance will pay for her medical bills. She may sue me personnally if her damage is over my insurance limit.
How can I protect my assets?
Can they go after my wife assets? Is she responsible for my car accident?
Thank you so much for your help in advance.

I think, your wife is not responsible for your accident. If they would get a judgment against you, since Pa. is not a community property state, assets in your wife's name only would be "protected." However, they would go after your individual assets & joint assets (any assets with your name also on them).
