dismiss and make a cleim

I had the work accident in Birmingham and I still work there. I want to make a claim, but I'm afraid that my employer will dismiss me and I might lose my job. How much time do I have to claim compensation? How long will it take?

Dear Thomi
employers can't dismiss you only  because you want to claim compensation. If you work 12 month or more service, he must follow proper dismissal procedures. If you are dismissed you may be able to claim for unfair dismissal. If you have not worked for the employer for 12 months, it can be a good idea to delay making a claim for a few months. If you have worked for a company for more than 12 months it is unlikely that your employer will dismiss you for making a claim. You have a total of 3 years to start the claim in most cases, but it is best to start the claim as soon as you can after the accident. If you are worried about your job, the solicitors will advise you on your options.

You have 3 years to start a claim. If you have worked for a company for more than
1 year it is not likely you will lose your job because you will be able to make a
claim for unfair dismissal. If you have worked for the company for 6 months you
might ask your solicitors not to put the claim forward until you have been at the
company for a year.
