serious accident

Hi!
I work in UK four  years. Last spring I found new job. I work on a building site in Bristol. Few months ago I had an accident, other worker unintentionally  fell of the burnt limes in my eye, because it was windy. He called an emergency but I became blind. I had already two operations and I'm waiting for rehabilitation because  since this accident I have not worked and was unseeing. Nobody is liable, but  also through no fault of mine.We underwent training in industrial safety; Can I get compensation for this? Who I should charge? How long does it take and how much it cost? Will I get sick pay when I'm out of work for so long time?
please give me some advice

Sorry to hear about your terrible accident. You can make a claim because your
employer should have given you goggles to protect you. There are regulations about
handling dangerous chemicals called COSHH and the company may have broken these
regulations. They will be insured and you should make a claim against them.   Most
solicitors will take a case on "no win no fee" so it should not cost you anything.
You have little to lose. You can get sick pay but only if the contract says that you
are entitled to sick pay. If you claim compensation your solicitor can claim loss of
earnings as part of your claim. Please get in touch with us and we will refer you to
a good solicitor. Claims can take a long time so th sooner you start your claim the
better.

Hi Mate

Im really sorry to hear what had happened to you and would like to try and help you.

Now this incident that took place, you say training was provided could you be more specific, i mean what did they cover in training.  I also need to know that why was your colleague burning something at a building site.  You say it was windy, which is understandable but then were does safety come into this, how close where you to your colleague when this incident took place, did they provide safety gear for this type of activity, was this part of the job description.

To be honest there are alot of factors you have to consider in order to determine a solution.  We do get alot of work related accidents so these questions are vital, how where you getting paid, if it was cash in hand then thats a problem, meaning that you might not be on the books which eliminates all purposes of the claim, meaning then you have nothing to stand on, contact a member of the trade union if there is a union, address this issue to them about safety see what their opinions are.

It is very hard to determine if there is a case due to negligence as the statement you have provided is not specific enough for me to go on.

Im sorry but this is as much as i can do, if you come back with more information, then i can look at it in more depth and advise you further.

Thanks
