corrective surgery

i had an accident in 1986 on a moped, compound fracture tib&fib, wasnt set straight ankle was rotated outwards, calf muscle never grew back properly,  struggled on with life not wanting it to get the better of me, i recently went to doctors with aches and pains and he referred me to a lower limb specialist who said he can operate on my leg to correct the surgery 25 years previous, he asked why i hadnt had it done before now, but i didnt know they could do that, the surgery would take 6-12 months to complete, Do i have a case for a claim? Could anyone advise me if this would be possible after so long

Basically with medical negligence cases limitation is basically 3 years from the date of knowledge. If you were aware in 1986 that it was a "botched job" then I am afraid you are out of time.
Perhaps I should that as long as in 1986 you were an adult, if you were under the age of 18 then time only starts to run against you when you hit the age of 18. It's probably worth giving me a call so we can consider how you stand with limitation.
