medical neglagence claim

Hi
I dont really know where to start,i have read that there is a 3 year time limit on claims so ive probably waited to long but here is my story. At age 27 i went to the doctor with spotting (not my normal doctor) she went to look and could see a mass i was sent for a biopsy and it was comfirmed that i had cervical cancer.I had been up to date with my smears and had 2 abnormal which i spoke to doctor about and was assured that it was fine no other tests were done at this time.
Chemo and radio thearapy were started as soon as and 7years on i am clear, because of the treatment i had to start HRT for which i have patches and 4 years ago had the Mirena coil inserted as i had problems with the progesterone replacements,on the 10th of november 2011 i went into hospital to have the coil removed as i get alot of discomfort it turns out now that because of the radio therapy scarring that the coil in incase in the scarring and the doctors cant remove it.
I never thought of making a claim as i was going through enough and with 2 children didnt want to think about it but now with more and more things effecting my life because of an abnormal smear was ignored i wondered if i had left it to late??
Does anyone have any advice on if it is to late to make a claim?
many thanks

You are quite correct in that there is what is called a statute of limitation of 3 years in which to make a claim, but this statute commences from the date of injury or date of knowledge whichever is the sooner.

So, if your injuries occured for example 5 years ago, but you only found out 1 year ago, then your time would start from the date you became aware of the injury.

Speak to a specialist medical negligence solicitor.

This is a specialist area of law, so don't use any of the claims management firms (for example those who appear on this site telling you to call them, they are a complete waste of space) but go to someone who specialises in medical negligence local to you.

They will give you a free consultation, look at your case and then give you sound and proper advice.
