accident with a friend

I was recently in an accident in my friends van down on a beach, the van got rolled and i ended up in hospital with a fractured bone in my neck and two in my back............i never thought about compensation until someone mentioned it.
I asked my friend if he is claiming the van on his insurance and he said yes(not mentioning i am thinking of the compensation).

I would like to ask do i go direct to his insurers about the possible claim, but i am going to tell him before i do this. But finding it hard to bring up the subject to him. Does anything happen to him in regards to the compensation? i have looked up on the internet and most say if he is claiming the van anyway then this shouldnt really affect him to much.

If someone can give me abit of advice on how to go around this? I am unable to work for a min of 12weeks.

Thank you
C

You are claiming off your friends insurance, which is not the same as suing him directly, and to be fair if he is claiming off his insurance for the van in any case, then it is not going to make any real difference.

Speak to a specialist personal injury solicitor (don't deal with a claims management firm) who will send off the letter of claim to your friend who simply passes it onto his insurance company to deal with.

Given your injuries, don't expect your claim to settle overnight though, you are probably looking at a couple of years probably more before your case settles.

Good afternoon.

His policy will not be affected if you make a claim as he is going to be claiming against this regardless for his vehicle, so im sure if you explain this to him he would understand.

I personally handle claims and would be happy to assist or provide any advice you require.

Please feel free to contact me on 07725562997.

Kind Regards
