Fell on wet floor in work with no sign

Hi

I had a fall in work in a wet toilet floor. I went over on my ankle and was in some pain, we have never had any wet floor signs and an hour after I fell work sent someone out to buy some.

After the fall I went and hobbled to the boss in tears to explain what had happened and to tell him I was in pain and worried I had damaged my foot. I was told to take some painkillers and get on with it, they also joked about asking me nit to make a claim.

After about another hour the shooting pains in my foot were hurting and I complained again, this time asking to go to a walk in centre. The manager drove me to a & e instead and left me to be seem too. After three hours and Ab X-ray I was told I have deep tissue damage and it will take a few weeks to get better.

I called work to explain who asked if I was coming back to work I explained I wouldnt and I was going home to rest. They weren't happy with this and asked me to call the next day to see if I was coming in. No sympathy was shown and no one has called to see how I am.

I don't drive and the bus to and from work is a bit of a walk which I am not up to yet. I have so far only had a day off after asking if they could arrange for me to be picked up and dropped off and they have refused. They have told me any days I take off will be unpaid or I will have to use holidays.

Were do I stand on this?

Am j entitled to claim? Should I have to take the time off as unpaid? If I do claim will I lose my job?

Any advice would be appreciated
