Do i have a vaid claim?

I'm a postie and while out on delivery i stood on a manhole cover, which turned out wasn't on correctly, and my leg fell through and i stumbled forward heavily onto my hands. My leg and ankle strained a bit,, also as i fell my (8-10kg) post bag swung round and twisted my back and ankle even more, i managed to finish my walk somehow. An old lady across the road saw and came to see if i was ok. The person who lives next to the manhole cover said he has reported the problem a few times. I told 2 managers when i got back to the office. I'm now starting to feel stiffness in my ankle, a throbbing pain in my knee and a dull pain between my shoulder blades.

I should point out that i was looking where i was going, i just didn't expect something simple as a manhole cover to be faulty.

I've never been in an accident, and never made a claim of any kind. So i really want to know what ill be getting into.

Do you think i should make a claim.
