Accident in work in England - accident compensation

Hi,
I'm from Poland and I had accident last week.
Do I have possibility to get accident compensation if I was preparator of accident? who says that someone is responsible for accident at work? Police?
At this time I'm 3 weeks out off work. This accident happened at farm when I collected potatoes. Machine pull my hand glove and all hand. I lose half of my small finger. I had already 2 operations and I'm waiting for rehabilitation.
Can I get compensation for this? Who I should charge? How long does it take and how much it cost?
Will I get sick pay when I'm out of work for so long time?
please help me.

Re: Accident in work in England - accident compensation

You may have a claim against the owners of the farm who should have insurance to
cover claims. Whether you get sick pay will depend on what your contract says. You
should consult a solicitor about making a claim for the injury to your finger and
your loss of earnings. Cases can take between 9 months and 3 years but probably most
cases like this take about 18-24 months.
