Injured Calf At Work

I was doing my usual job, working as a sale assistant behind the till and serving a customer when suddenly one of the metal shelves behind me (which I hadn't even touched) gave way, to which either just the weights (probably easily at least a couple of 4kg+ dumbells) or both them and the shelf fell on the bottom of my calf (I was in a lot of pain when it happened, so do not remember the specifics). The shelf must have had at least 30kg of weights on it as there were kettlebells on it too, though they luckily were too heavy to go any great distance and didn't hit me. We phoned 999 and after talking to some advisor person, was told to go to A&E. I did so and was told it was just soft tissue damage and to walk on it as much as possible.

A week on, my calf is is still quite painful (yet somewhat numb at the same time), tender and a bit swollen and after being on my feet for 4+ hours at work, am finding it hurts me somewhat to walk up stairs etc, which it never used to before the accident. Do you think I would be able to claim on this? I have only had 4 days off of work, but it is more how distressed it made me at the time, the pain I have suffered as a result of it and what I can only see as some kind of negligence, thinking it was wise to put all that weight in one place than anything else that I would claim for as my shifts vary, so I may have had those days off regardless.

yes, if you still had problems 8 weeks after the accident, then there is a clear case for you to claim under the employer's liability. they have insurance for these occurrences. there insurance on the building wont go up and you should not receive any ill treatment by the employer.
