my father died because of medical negligence

My Father died from a heart attack the end of april 2007. The Hospital has admitted to the negligence of incorrect diagnosis by the ER doctor and the review board of that hosptial set up an appointment a few days ago with thier risk manager. She said that the hospital is only at fault to 20% and a cap of 1000 pounds and that 80% is the doctors responsibility is that true? She also said that the pain and suffering is only 25000 puonds is that true? And the other question we have is what kind of settlement can we expect from the hosptial and doctor? They are sending out an adjuster to the house to figure out the economic losses and what can we expect there?

I agree with felix.  Ultimately it is for the court to decide how much the hospital was at fault, and how much of the negligence was the responsibility of the doctor.  It is also a matter for the court to decide on the level of compensation.  It really would be a good idea to get advice from a personal injury lawyer as soon as possible.

Re: my father died because of medical negligence

This is definitely a case for the courts to decide upon, but from what you say, it looks like you have a very strong case as the hospital has admitted to their errors.

Just go to a solicitor, an experienced one at that, and get some more detailed and professional advice.
