Claimant will die before claim processed.

Over 2 and a 1/2 years ago, i was in a car crash with my elderly father and mother. Unfortunately as a result of this crash my mother died. The other driver was prosecuted for causing death by careless driving and gausing gbh to my dad.
I put in a claim for my father - including fatal bereavement award. This is due to get processed in court later in month / or get settled. My fathers health has deteriorated rapidly in past few days. He willnot live to see this court case date. What happens with his claim - is it processed to his estate, or is it just "lost".
