Accident Liability

A woman, Laura, cycled into work along the cycle path on the street. She stopped at the front of the traffic queue at the traffic lights at a crossroads. She saw the lights go red for the traffic travelling perpendicular to her and started to cycle off when the lights for her stream of traffic were amber, just before the lights went green. A car, driven by Mike, travelling on the road perpendicular to the road Laura was cycling along continued through the red light. Mikeā??s car hit Laura and knocked her off the bike.

Where does the liability fall in this scenario? My impression is that Mike is largely to blame however would his liability be diminished because the woman on the bike also did a wrong? Does anyone know of any literature that deals with this kind of thing?

I have heard of a solicitors company from a friend I think it is called McKeowns Solicitors Milton Keynes or McKeowns Solicitors St Albans :S. But you should ask them for more advice as they should be able to help you as they provide no fees for accident claims and should hopefully provide you with more advice. I hope it all goes well with your claim!
