Lifting Injuries

I was  hurt during when i was curring out  duties. I lifted weights and too awkward to lift. I think my emplyer should  take steps to reduce the risk and use a hoist. He didn't want because the hoist was damaged and commoditis required a quick unloading. I cause a rupture and I have undergo an operation. I unloading with yet one a man. He was a witness. My manager claims it wasn't necessity using the hoist. What are the odds of getting compensation?

The employer should avoid the need for lifting whenever possible, for example by using a hoist. If it is not possible to avoid the need for manual handling a risk assessment should be done and the employer should take steps to reduce the risk, for example by giving training, providing equipment such as a trolley or extra manpower.
